Comment: I started knitting a year ago. I finally had the courage to try a sock. I made one for my two year old son, and it fit him so perfectly that was going to out grow it the next week. So I have started a larger pair. Socks are not the terror I had been told they were. Though I did have to tear out the heal the first time through, I did it great the second time though. I love knitting socks. My next goal? Gloves, yeah!!

Comment: The first time I tried knitting was many Christmases ago after my mom gave me a 'learn how to knit' kit. After several unsuccessful attempts and many episodes of chucking the needles across the room, I gave up and moved onto making hemp bracelets. Then bead weaving. Then crochet. And...back to knitting. Armed with several knitting books (including another 'learn how to knit' kit) and some very very helpful online videos, learning all the different needle options and accessories (much more complicated than crochet!!), and many many many hours spent learning and practicing the basics of casting on, knitting and purling..and ripping it all out again to start over: I have finished my first hat, started on circular needles and finished off on double points. Those of you out there struggling, getting frustrated and feeling you'll never 'get it'..well, put it down for now. But make sure you come back later and give it another shot. Eventually you'll get there, and it's well worth the trouble! Good luck :))

Comment: Just wanted to say, I tried multiple times in the past but could only ever figure out the knit stitch. The proper purl stitch always evaded me. This past month I finally figured it out and I am now making a scarf for my sister for Christmas :) I'm definitely addicted!

Comment: I'm 35 years old and taught myself to knit last month (with the help of knitting videos online.) I love it! I can't get enough of it. Knitting is all I think about when I'm not knitting. I guess I must be addicted. Four scarves and two hats later. I'm looking for an easy pattern for gloves. I'm so excited to get started. Wish me luck!

Comment: I started knitting in July this year after a couple of previous failed attempts over the last 15 years...and now I am completely addicted! I even have dreams about knitting and wake up disappointed that I haven't actually made any more progress during the night on whatever project I'm experimenting with. Comment: I've just started my christmas rounds now (yes, I know that it's way to early!!!) because this year I'm doing gloves for everyone! It's great fun, but really irritating (I've got to do about ten pairs, I think, I'm not counting!) and I've stopped school work, which really isn't a good idea, as I'm in the upper VI (year 13!)

Comment: Hi I'm at a friends house today. I'm injoying some green tea from jambajuice and yes injoying my "holiday tube" projects. I have 3 "holiday tube" projects I'm working on!! I love these so much!! They are so portible-I can acluy fit 2 into a sandwich bag into my pocket!! Like others say, knitting is relaxing and gives me something to do!! I LOVE knitting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tonight's: I'm on my computer on this site, enjoying knitting my "holiday-tube" project,I'm not sure if I'm going to make a sock out of my "tube" or a purse of some kind. Yet, while I "work" on my "tube" project, I'm enjoying some hot chocolet, perfect way to end the night don't you think??

Comment: I've been knitting since I became pregnant with my son 14 years ago. I would often hide my needles and yarn when we had friends over, for fear that they would make fun of me for having "an old lady" hobby! Since then I have knitted tons of baby items and given them to these same friends as shower gifts over the years and enjoyed the praise I get in return (I love that non-knitters don't see all the mistakes that you can see from across the room!) I now belong to a knitting group that tries to meet once a week, and am getting ready to donate a big bag on items for our church fair. So if you haven't picked up a pair of needles yet, give it a try, I promise you'll love it, and you're friends will be lining up for you to teach them how to knit too!!

Comment: I have been crocheting since I was a teenager and made some very nice clothing, like sweaters and a skirt. But I always wanted to learn how to knit. When I turned 50 a couple years ago, I took a deep breath and taught myself how to knit using instructional sites on the Internet. It took me a couple of tries ... For some reason, the hardest thing for me was trying to learn how to cast on! LOL :)) Now a couple years - and dropped stitches - later, I have made some shrugs, fingerless gloves, and two baby sweaters with patterns from this wonderful web site! It's never too late! Just have fun and believe in yourself! (Oh, and about those dropped stitches ... Everyone makes them, and there are lots of places on-line to find out how to rescue your knitting!)

Comment: Hi everyone!! I'm still going strong!!(started knitting in 2002 and still knitting 2009 now!) My lated "theme" socks! I love them I can put them in my purse there so portible, and those pesky holidays are aproching again so I'm back with my "holiday theripy knitting" -found a preaty "fall" colored yarn and working with that,and enjoying some apple citer as I work. for those who get stressed on the holdays please consiter this (working with "holiday" colored yarn and injoy your favorte holiday drink while kniting)

Comment: My mum taught me to knit along time ago when i was little and i did it alittle but i turned into a teenager and decided that boys were much more interesting! just recently ive quit smoking and was crazy not doing anything with my hands while i watch tv or were on the train! i decided to start knitting again and now i am selling my little projects and i have also knitted my whole entire family! im saving and making money now from not smoking! yayy!
