Subject: Knitting
Comment: I've been knitting/crocheting since I was 7 years old. I've given most of my projects away to friends but a year ago I began making blankets for the local hospital nursery. You would be surprised at how many people don't even have a blanket to take their baby home it. In the past 14 months I've donated 74 knitted and crocheted baby blankets. If any of you have extra time, I'm sure your local hospital would also appreciate any donations you can make. Keep on knitting!!!

Subject: Guys do it too!
Comment: Hey everyone! I'm thirteen and have been knitting four about three years. It's awesome!! I'm also a tomboy, and whenever people see me knitting, they think it's kind of strange. But hey, my dad knits! It's a great skill to learn. Did you know that knitting was supposedly invented by pirates?! Wow!!

Comment: Hello to all you avid knitters! I have joined the ranks of "hate to even put it down" knitters when I started working at the local hospital as a patient safety attendant. Since sick folks sleep a lot, and I have to be alert to watch out for them, I began to knit in earnest. I always did like to knit, but have other hobbies too. I have made many small items for gifts and bazaar these past five years, but recently my supervisor has mandated 'no more knitting'. Reasons are obscure. I am saddened, as reading and television make me sleepy. I bought a laptop computer, which I like, but I miss making things to show for my "idle time". Should I mention how much less housework I do since I am knitting more at home? Oh, dear..

Subject: Bringing the knit to high school!
Comment: Just today, after school, we had a tornado coming straight for the school. I usually wait for my grandma for an hour at this time. Well today, I was knitting in the library, when someone runs in yelling, "There's a tornado out there!".
My first thought at this point SHOULD HAVE BEEN: "Oh no! A tornado!"
Instead, it was: "Dangit! I'm in the middle of a row! Can't this wait?!"
Ah, such is the life of a knitter.
If you're wonderng, the tornado didn't hit the school, and everything turned out ok.

Subject: dishcloth
Comment: I would like to see a strawberry dishcloth, as they are a lot of fruit dishclothe, but i have yet to see a strawberry. I love this site and have learned a lot from it and i have knitted for a number of years. I like to knit the simple and quick things to knit. Thanks for a good site. Birdlady

Name: Alison - from Birmingham UK
Subject: Stress and smoking
Comment: Regarding Lilianna's comment about knitting helping to deal with stress - I am finding this to be very true. My job is rather stressful at the moment, and when I knit in the evenings, I can actually feel the tension dissolving.

My daughter wanted to give up smoking, and I told her about Bridget, who commented that knitting helped her to give up smoking years ago. My daughter has now stopped smoking, and although not a keen knitter before, is now knitting scarves, and says it is helping her, especially in the evenings when she used to smoke the most. So far she has gone for 2 weeks without a cigarette, which is the longest she has yet managed.

So there you have it - knitting as therapy; and as a bonus you get an article that is unique and beautiful or functional.

Just one thing though - may I suggest a charity for collecting and distributing socks to sock knitters who never actually get to keep the socks they knit for themselves - it's amazing how friends and family manage to appropriate socks before they leave the needles.

Comment: Hi MousieWoman here, I really enjoy knitting! it really helps me when I'm stressed! Today I was at school and was stressed so I got some hot chocolet sat down with my knitting and knitting book and boy did that do the trick!! There is something about a hot drink (tea, hot chocolet)and knitting that makes me feel much better. Hey, get this, tonight as I type this, I am of course knitting!( another scarf!!!) drinking some "pearl" hot chocolet!! (pearls left over from another drink) and of course my crochet bayarea squeakers (mice) keeping me company while I knit!! Who ever invented knitting, if I could tell them something it would be......THANK GOD FOR KNITTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Subject: Why knitting is good for your health
Comment: Knitting has been my hobby for many years now, it has saved me a fortune in money, kept me healthy and probably kept me sane (my husband may not agree with that though!).

Many years ago now I gave up smoking for good by learning to knit. If I hadn't done that I'd be about £36,000 poorer by now (I think that's about $70,000)! Good decision eh!

Kind regards

Bridget Bytheway, Devon, England

Subject: knit nut lol
Comment: Hi, I still love knitting more than ever!! I just finished another scarf (a blue with pink floral one. Now I think I'll work on some squares (you can do anything with these) I heard there is a knitters group at a Pearl Tea Place near where I live!! How neat is that???

Name: Suanna
Subject: Knitting
Comment: I have been knitting since I was around 8 or 9 years old. I always used to knit clothes for my Barbie dolls (dresses, hats, etc) and I've made myself numerous scarves and even a pair of mittens. I don't think I could knit something big like a sweater, because it'd probably end up fitting weirdly. haha.

Name: Hannah
Subject: love it!!
Comment: Thank you for the patterns on here. I really enjoy this website and crochet pattern central too!!
I am 16 and love to knit, crochet, sew, and quilt. I haven't learned to cross-stitch yet, but I'm willing to learn!
I am slowly getting into business, because I had to crochet a baby blanket for a lady at my churchs friend. She paid me for that.
And also more and more people have been wanting me to make them culottes. (Does anyone here know what culottes are??) In case any of you don't they are kind of like gauchos, but looser. So i get paid for them.
But anyway, back to the point, I am wanting to start a knitting club. I've been wanting to since I was 13, but never did. I think maybe now I would like to try.
Thanks for all the encouragement and help ya'll guys!!!
Love, Hannah

Subject: I love knitting!
Comment: I was in a club for girls in grades 3-6. I am now in 7th. In 5th grade we had to learn how to crochet. I hated it. I was never taught by people one on one so I never learned. I did not finish til the next year. In 6th grade I found out I was going to be doing knitting. At first I dreaded the thought. I thought it would be like crochet. I had more one on one time with a leader though. At first it was confusing. It took me forever to cast on, but after I got going and finally realized how easy it was my family started calling me 'knitting wizard' I finished quickly and eventually made baby hats, wallets, blankets, headbands, ect. I have a word for you out there who think knitting is hard. Don't get that spirit cause it'll stick. And don't give up. It's all pretty much the same stitch. You'll love it in the end!
