Name: Jennifer Subject: The Art of Knitting Comment: I am 15 years old and have been knitting for about 8 months now. I have become obsessed with knitting. My spare time in school is spent knitting away. I've made numerous scarves for other people. I'm now working on making fingerless band gloves, as I am in marching band. There are so many projects I want to make and everyday I get just a little bit better. Knitting has changed who I am, it's really helped to calm and de-stress me. I don't know what I'd do without it. If there is any knitter out there who is fed up and about to throw their needles away, don't. You never know if you'll get better until you try. Stick with it and it'll come to you. Comment: Okay so its only one but I'm making the "Easy Knit Elf Slippers" and I finished one of them! I JUST started knitting the day after christmas. I think that I am going to purl the other square because the stitch pattern is the same and then I will know both stitches. I am so happy that I did it and it looks good. A few mistakes were made but I am one of those people who has to have a project I cant just knit (or crochet) squares for "no reason" like they recommend in my book I wanna make something! but to anyone learning I think that this is a great project even if you dont have kids you can donate them to the local crisis nursery or hospital. I started out at CPC (as I learned how to knit when my mother taught herself but she preferred crochet and I was like 7 and she never knit got into knitting, so of course I forgot how to knit!) Recently however I wanted to relearn because I am cloth diapering my twins and I want to knit them some wool soakers! So my mother in law bought me knitting supplies for Christmas and I am doing it! I have a easy ONE LINE pattern for beginners I would like to share; its for a scarf. I am sure there is some other variations that someone also could come up with to give this same look size 15 or 17 needles cast on 15 sts. purl 1 K 3 repeat this to the end last 2 stitches knit; do this on EVERY row and it makes a nice pattern and quick and easy for a beginner just wanted to share Name: Alison Subject: From the UK Comment: I love this site. I often spend my lunch hour at work looking at the brilliant patterns. I work full time, and am also doing a degree through the Open University, so I mainly look for small projects I can do between courses. I've just finished the '2 needle kids socks' posted by 'a bunch of crazy kiwis', for my grandson, and he loves them. I've also made 'Bev's 2 needle socks' for myself, and was proud as they were my first socks. At the moment I'm knitting a hat from the 'simple hat pattern'. It's my first try at knitting in the round. I'd never even heard of knitting in the round before I went on the site, but it's great fun. Keep up the good work. It's also great to see posts from children who are knitting - I've just taught my 10 year-old granddaughter, and she's loving it too. Name: Caitlin Subject: Inspiration from a dream! Comment: I learned to knit from my aunt when I was a little girl many years ago. For years, I never anything more complicated than a garter stitch scarf, and then I didn't knit at all for at least 10 or 15 years. About a year ago, I had a dream that I was knitting, and the next day while walking around town,I happened on a yarn store that I had never noticed before. I just finished my 3rd sweater, and my first cable-knit sweater, and I'm getting ready to tackle my second lace project. As someone told me, if you can knit and purl, you can make anything.
