Name: June Subject: Knitting is the best medicine Comment: I was diagnosed with stage 4 throat cancer and given three to six weeks to live. I chose to have chemotherapy and radiation. I knitted through all my treatments on the way to treatments and on the way home from treatments. I continued knitting and have taught a couple of friends to knit as well. I'm just getting back into knitting after a long period of time. I am knitting while recovering from surgery and was thrilled to find out our church was donating some items to some children in W.Virgiania. Thanks to you I will be able to do the Lord's work while recooperating! Thank you! Debi Name: Ivy S. Subject: Fun and Love Comment: Hello! I'm 14 years old and have been knitting since I was a little girl. I don't remember exactly when I started, but I have been knitting for at least six or seven years. Anyway, I do knitting in fits and starts. I haven't knitted at all this year, but I just began to work on several projects, including a little pair of striped mittens for my baby sister Rebekah. (She turned 3 recently and I gave them to her for her birthday.) My mom is going to have another baby soon (number seven!) and I am planning on knitting a hat and glove set for him/her. Knitting is a wonderful way to express love. In Proverbs ch. 31, the "virtuous woman" is described as working with her hands, and having no fear of the cold weather for her family. I pray that I will be a blessing to my future husband and children in this way. Name: Debbie Subject: Yarns Comment: Hi! I've been knitting only for about a year, but am amazed by the variety of yarns available out there. If you see any "sheep & wool" or "yarn & fiber" festivals in your area, do yourself a huge favor and go - the yarns they have for sale are spectacular! Most of them are hand-dyed, hand-painted and hand-spun. You can watch them shear a sheep, alpaca or llama and then spin the yarn right there on the spot. Most of these gorgeous yarns come in hanks, so it helps to have a swift and ball winder to turn them into manageable yarn balls. Also, for those of you who get the DIY network on cable/satellite, look for a show called Knitty Gritty - they have lots of good tips and guests like Lily Chin demonstrating new techniques! Name: Laurin Subject: 13 years old Comment: I am 13 years old and have been knitting about 6 months. If I can knit advanced projects, then you can! Name: jean Subject: resist fading Comment: I am always dissapointed when the color fades from my dishcloths, so I have discovered that soaking my cloths in vinegar and water before use helps greatly to set the color in the cloth. Name: Mousie Woman Subject: update =) Comment: Hi Mousie Woman here, just wanted to tell you what I've been up to. I just finished knitting 2 scarfs and working on a 3rd!! This one is done with "fall" colors. In the Taxicab this morning on the way to Gavilan College I started a knitted "wallet purse" I am most relaxed when knitting by candlelight, drinking Starbucks hot chocolet with my crochet mice!! NEVER STOP DREAMING! Mousie Woman 2006 Name: Gena Subject: Passion For Knitting Comment: I've crocheted for 26 years. My mom taught me to knit 36 years ago. We used to spend our lunch hours knitting sweaters and vests and scarves together before she died. Knitting was never "second nature" to me though. I'm picking up my knitting needles again and look forward to carrying them everywhere I go. I am in awe of these young ladies 12, 13, 15 years of age who love knitting all ready. They are so inspiring to me. It's delightful to read these messages from all over the world. Thank you ladies for sharing your love of knitting here and adding so many great tips. Name: Marit Kostol Subject: Greetings from Norway Comment: Hi, I stumbled across this page earlier this year, and I really enjoy it- lots of great patterns! I've been knitting( and crocheting and sewing and...)all my life, had a patient grandmother who taught me.I'm very fond of lace knitting (doilies). Thanks again for a great page. Name: Pam Subject: Site Comment: Thanks for maintaining this great site. I've recommended it to loads of people. In the UK we have some of the worlds most boring knitting patterns and they charge us about $6 each for them! Now with the Net we can break free of this monopoly and providing we can convert the terms/wool we can have a great range to choose from! Thanks once again! If anyone from the UK could do more online patterns that would be even greater! Name: Georgiana Subject: What a find! Comment: I've accidentally "stumbled" upon this sit and it's a treasure. I've been knitting for over 30 years and it most definitely is a stress reliever. I'd like to encourage those of you who are relatively new at this to keep up the good work. You never know who you might be able to bless with a finihed item Name: Amanda Subject: knitting Comment: I am thirteen and have just started knitting. My Aunt Kim tried to teach me when I was 10 but by the time I was home, I forgotton how. I finally picked up a book in the yarn section and figured out how to do it. I am finding it hard to find time to do it escpecially since I just started back to school, but I am striving toward the finish of some of my projects. Thanks for haveing this site, it is a great help and is so easy to access.
