Subject: Love Knitting!
Comment: I took knitting lessons over 20 years ago. I learned how to do the basics then quit. It just made me stressed. A year ago after visiting this site I decided to try again. I love knitting now! I have made scarves, hats, dishcloths, a tank top, cozies and just finished my first sock. Cast on my first second already so it doesn't stay lonely long. I'm so glad I decided I would try again.

Comment: I was looking for something to do during all those hours I sit at work waiting for my next client. (I'm a hairdresser wh ohas trouble with boring down time) I've been artistic all my life and have done all mediums, but you can't take any of them to work. So I decided to knit and went on a website and found directions. (I had to reverse the words "right" hand and "left" hand..being I am a lefty. After a few tries I am making 3 scarves at a time! I love all the yarns with fur or eye lashes.

Subject: I cant stay out of here!
Comment: Hi Mousie Woman here,
After I finished that long scarf, and started 2 more, actualy I turned the orange/red scarf into a purse, and I'm still working on the green scarf, As I type this I have 3 mice sitting on the scarf and one mousie knitting (I found her on a humorus knitting web site) She was so cute, I just had to add her to my mousie colection. The only bad thing is now I have a sore elbow! (I think its caused by something else, but knitting tends to eritate it, yet I love to knit SOO much,I feel like a basket case when I cant knit!!! I also have a pretty white purse that I knitted thats on the way!!) take care! Mousie Lady

Comment: Hi!! My Grandma TRIED to teach me how to knit when I was... I think... 10 or 11. (I can't exactly remember) But anyway, I couldn't get it. My work went from like 5 inches across and kept getting bigger. I'm serious!!! When I binded off it was 15 inches. Anyway I gave up after that. But maybe a year or two later I started praying that God would let me be able to get it and I got it!! I was so excited!! So now I'm 15 and have made a sweater, vest and a poncho. I'm thinking about making my sister a pair of mittens for Christmas. Never give up!!!

Love and prayers, Hannah

Subject: Encouragement
Comment: Hi,I'm only 14 but hope my little knitting story might help some discouraged beginners. When I was around 7 years old I took a knitting class from an old lady from our church(which was very interesting, but I did'nt really get it.) I never could get farther than half a pot holder, so I kind of just gave it up or something (I can't really remember very well exactly why we stopped.) Then, last year,I got interested in knitting again. I recieved a knitting kit for my birthday and was very excited about learning. We popped in the knitting DVD and I tried and tried unsuccess-fully. I was determined to learn in that one sitting, but, try as I might, it all ended in tears. The knitting kit was buried, along with my enthusiasm. But little did I know that in my unconsious mind I was going over the knitting steps and slowly understanding it. Then, one day, about a month later, I picked up my knitting needles and started to knit! Now I enjoy knitting exceedingly, have taught my brother and now am trying to teach my friend how. I would like to learn more about knitting and maybe even someday start some sort of knitting business!

Comment: Hi its me again, Guess what?? I finaly finished my scarf!(man is it long!!) But I'm such a "knit nut" lol. I'm now starting TWO scarfs, one at home and the other on the go, the one on the go has 2 mice in a pouch at the end, as I type this those 2 mice are smiling at me. They look so cute snuggled up in there pouch! I'm at Foothill College (where I take classes in the summer) and even as I read the "Encouragement & Testimonials" I love to sit here and knit!! NEVER GIVE UP YOUR DREAMS!!

Subject: Knitter from Zimbabwe!
Comment: Yes Zimbabwe. As in Africa. I was taught how to knit when I was a child (as were all my contemporaries)but it was more a chore than anything else. Something all little girls had to know...I hated it, needless to say, what with all the deformed teddy bears and scratchy pullovers we were compelled to churn out both at home and at school. Then one year ago I came across a copy of Vogue Knitting International (a rare find, in my cash strapped, semi-sanctioned country US magazines are not something you find all the time) and I fell absolutely and instantly in love with knitting. It really was a life changing moment, dramatic as it sounds. I knit to relieve stress, to unwind, for the sheer contentment of it. I struggle to find decent yarn substitutes, battle to get the right gauge needles and fumble with my as yet unperfected skills, but I am loving every nutty, knitty second of it! I love this site and visit regularly and just had to say a warm hello from Africa:)

Tonight I'm really enjoying knitting my scarf, I have 18 small crochet friends (mice) with me tonight. I allready finished half of my scarf, it got so big I could not put it in my purse anymore so I binded it off and tonight working on the other half,I hope to get it finished before the cold weather comes in. Its got 5 mousie faces on it(the desine) I'm exited about it!! Well got to go now,(I'm going to mess around on the computer and do somemore knitting on my scarf.

Comment: I have a very smart friend in Oklahoma who has been blind for over twenty years.

When I made a baby blanket for her first grandbaby a few years ago, she said she wished she could make him one.

So I taught her to knit.

In the last five years she has knitted more blankets, afghans, scarves, mittens, hats and booties than I have since I learned how forty years ago.

Her priority project is the dozen hats she knits for her church to donate to needy children every year, above and beyond everything else she does.

Subject: it's really great!!!
Comment: I've been knitting since I was about 8; my mom taught me and it has stayed with me ever since. It has become an unwinder for after work late at night and also an encouragement when grandchildren want to learn (even my grandson of 5 is interested but can't quite get the hang of it). Thanks for your website and also for sharing.

Subject: Hobbies
Comment: Hey "Deborah & mousies" - Please write up that mouse pattern you designed and post it. Sounds like fun!

I've tried just about every craft hobby there is. Knitting has been great for me because (1) I can do it anywhere. (2) I can make things that people actually like receiving as gifts. (3) I can do it when I would otherwise be occupied (riding in the car, flying, etc.) meaning that I don't have to take time out of my busy schedule for my hobby. (4) I can make nice things for the troops away in the war. (5) It can be relaxing or challenging depending on the project. (6) I can make useful and classic items.

Thanks for this website. I reference it often.

By the way, I'm 37 and have been knitting for over 3 years.
