Comment: I've learned knitting from my grandma when I was 8 years old. I left it for many years and when my grandma died I started again just to remember her. Everything came back to me in a few days. Knitting is like a bicycle and it can give you great memories, fun and pride!!

Comment: hello every one i have loved some of the advise you all give. and as the saying gos you are never to old to learn. i have managed to knit 4 jackets for my 2 year old grandaughter just by learning on line it has been slow but to complete 4 items with know one showing me wow am i happy i just love to knit i am 61 and just learnt as my mum never did any thing like knitting so i love the computer which i learn from keep knitting sue

Comment: if you can crochet you can learn to knit. try a circular needle. it will feel more like the size and weight of your hooks. Im 46 and learned to knit 5 months ago. I just finished a little seamless baby sock useing 2 circular needles. sometimes I like to knit. sometimes I like to crochet. some projects take concentration, some projects flow easily along while you chat with a friend. have more then one project going at a time so you can crochet or knit on what ever you're in the mood to work on. When I retire from my job I will run out of yarn.

Comment: Hi, Mrs. Mousie here! Wow! It almost hit 100 degrees today here in Palo Alto!! But never the less, I'm happy- I'm knitting a scarf and enjoying that famous Arnold Palmer (ice tea & lemon aid) and listening to some music and yes, reading this Encouragements & testimonials page!! I also am knitting squares on the go. Squares are so easy to knit, (expectedly when you want to knit,but don't really know WHAT to knit!!) They can be made into almost anything! Advice for this summer: KEEP COOL AND OF COURSE KEEP THAT WONDERFUL CRAFT (KNITTING) ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comment: I can't say that circulars are the way to go unless you have too much difficulty with dpn's. I knit socks all the time especially during the summer when it is too hot to knit anything else. I use only dpn's and love them. They did take some getting used to though and even with circulars you would have to switch to dpn's for the toes. I promise you though once you master socks you will becom addicted to them.

Comment: Hi there. Yo stands for "year old", not yarn over! I am fourteen years old (just in case you still couldn't figure it out). I knitted my first scarf when I was about 8 or 9. I have knitted three sweaters so far. The first one was intended for me, but ended up a little too big for my dad. The second one has very wide sleeves, and i do not wear it a lot. The third one is a baby sweater (it came out fine) and is actually being worn! I really like this site, except for the fact that most of the measurements are Imperial (American). One of my favorite knitting sites is Knitty. They have some really wierd and original patterns there, and a nice search engine. My next aspirational project (in other words a project I want to do) is to knit socks. I can already knit on DPNs. I live in South Africa, and short circular needles are not available in thick sizes.

Comment: i am 56 years old and have knit for along time. but never tried socks. from what i read circular needles are the way to go. i really enjoy this site, great encouragment,and ideas. free patterns are awesome. just not enough time in the day. i find it very relaxing. just love to read new patterns. everyone keep knitting and enjoy. thankyou.
